The Finnish Association of Nurse Anesthetists - FANA

The Finnish Association of Nurse Anesthetists - FANA (Suomen Anestesiasairaanhoitajat ry SASH) was founded in 1966

The goals of FANA are:

• To acknowledge the profession of the nurse anesthetist nationwide.
• To serve as a link between the nurse anesthetists, ICU- and operating room nurses.
• To develop and promote the education of nurse anethetists and their professional development.
• To unify the standards of education and practice of nurse anesthetists within the EU and the Nordic countries.
• To support the development of nursing science on the perioperative field by granting scholarships.

The membership of FANA is open to all nurse anesthetists and RN:s with working experience or professional interest on the perioperative field or ICU-nursing. The association has about 2000 members.

The FANA is a founding member of IFNA 1989 (International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists) and a counterpart in NOSAM since 1974.
